Mansion with a Tunnel is made up of a group of structures located above a tunnel carved in the rock, discovered during the cleaning process before the surveys. Thanks to the restoration of these structures, important information has come to light : the tunnel was both a waterway and an escape route and it extends 3 kms from Uçhisar to a hillside. A 200 meter section of the tunnel located immediately below the structures in the hotel is open to the public and in use. Each day, visitors are told its story.

The Mansion with a Tunnel was designed as an experiment in restoration, reinforcement and a new addition to the hotel. It has a green courtyard, complex passages and angled blocks. This project also includes the hotel’s first pool inside a room. The design of this group of structures displays several different alternatives on the relationship between village streets and hotel courtyards.
