Domed Church is located in the Soğanlı valley of Kayseri, called the gate to Cappadocia, and the setting of a series of late period rock-churches. The Domed Church is special among them because of its interiors and also because it’s the only structure with a discernible exterior dome carved from the rock.
The structure is compromised because five of the eight legs bearing the weight of the central dome frame are broken.
The Domed Church has been documented by Argos Yapı in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of Erciyes University.
Initiatives for the preparation and execution of a restoration project are continuing.
